Via Video Conference: Meeting Held to Finalize the Integrated Strategic Plan for Mediterranean Coastal Zones within the Arab Republic of Egypt
The second periodic meeting of the project's working group was held, led by Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Ali, the Executive Director of the Project, and Dr. Yousry El-Komy, the Strategic Planning Expert and Head of the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Plan, with the attendance of international experts: Professor Raul Medina, a specialist in coastal engineering, and Ms. Maria Mereno, an expert in the preparation of integrated coastal zone management plans.
The meeting discussions focused on the technical content of the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Plan, emphasizing the importance of linking the risks arising from sea-level rise in coastal areas with comprehensive development plans in the concerned coastal governorates. The meeting also addressed the shoreline management plan in detail.
The discussions resulted in an agreement to prepare a detailed executive roadmap for each coastal governorate. This roadmap aims to ensure the highest levels of coordination and effective integration between various ministries and concerned authorities during the planning and implementation phases of national development plans
