To Enhance Coastal Resilience.. "Climate Ambassadors" Expand to 160 Members within the "ECCADP" Project under the Auspices of MWRI and UNDP

In a strategic move toward strengthening Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) in Egypt, a specialized workshop titled "Effective Communication Skills" was launched. This event marks the second meeting for the fourth group of "Climate Ambassadors." The workshop is an integral part of the second component's activities of the "Enhancing Climate Change Adaptation in the North Coast and Nile Delta Regions in Egypt" (ECCADP) project, funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and supervised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Capacity Building: 160 Climate Ambassadors

The project continues its success in expanding the "Climate Ambassadors" base to reach 160 ambassadors representing various stakeholders and executive sectors. This initiative aims to consolidate the concept of Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) within government institutions and among local partners, ensuring the sustainability of national efforts in facing climate challenges.

Enhancing Personal and Leadership Skills

The workshop witnessed broad participation from officials representing coastal governorates and relevant ministries (Water Resources and Irrigation, Agriculture, Housing, Education, Health, and Transport), in addition to the General Authority for Roads and Bridges and the Egyptian Public Authority for Shore Protection. Dr. Yousry El-Koumy, the project’s Strategic Planning Expert, managed the sessions, which focused on refining effective communication skills as a fundamental pillar for enhancing joint coordination, transferring climate knowledge, and leading community change in areas most vulnerable to climate risks.

Statements and Objectives

Project officials explained that selecting and training "Climate Ambassadors" on communication skills aims to:

Unify Visions: Creating a common language across all executive sectors (Water, Environment, Urban Planning, and Investment).

Participatory Planning: Activating the role of local cadres in the decision-making process based on scientific foundations.

Sustainability of Impact: Ensuring the presence of qualified experts and officials within each relevant entity to follow up on the implementation of the Integrated Management Plan even after the project's duration.
