Kafr El Sheikh Governorate Strengthens Its Capacity to Manage Coastal Crises and Disasters
In a step towards enhancing the governorate's ability to address the environmental, social, and economic challenges resulting from climate change, Kafr El Sheikh Governorate held an intensive training workshop for members of the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Committee, with Dr. Yasser El-Komy, the project's expert in strategic planning and governance. This workshop was part of the activities of the second component of the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Plan, which aims to develop a comprehensive implementation plan to address climate change and its impacts on coastal areas.
Major General Dr. Alaa Abdel-Maaty, Governor of Kafr El Sheikh, followed up on the workshop, which was attended by a group of experts and officials from both Kafr El Sheikh and Dakahlia Governorates. The workshop focused on providing participants with the knowledge and skills necessary for proactive crisis and disaster management planning, making sound decisions under emergency conditions, and enhancing cooperation among various stakeholders.
The workshop was honored by the presence of officials from the relevant authorities, including Engineer Fatma El-Shawdafi, Director General of Urban Planning, Dr. Mohamed El-Genzouri, Director of the Environment Department, Khaled El-Meniawi, Director of Strategic Planning, Nasr Abdel-Hadi, Director of Crisis Management, and Engineer Amani Ahmed, Director of Urban Coordination.
