Enhancing Climate Change Adaptation Project: Achieving a New Milestone with the Installation of the Third Sea Level Monitoring Station in El Alamein
Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Ali, the Executive Director of the Enhancing Climate Change Adaptation project, announced a significant achievement with the installation of the third sea level monitoring station in the city of El Alamein. This step is part of the project's comprehensive efforts for integrated coastal zone management, which aims to enhance Egypt's ability to face the challenges of climate change.
His Excellency pointed out that it is planned to install seven marine monitoring stations along the Mediterranean coast. These stations will contribute to providing accurate real-time data on sea level, which will support informed and effective decision-making to reduce the negative impacts of climate change on the Egyptian coasts.
Dr. Ali added that the installation of these stations falls within the framework of establishing an integrated national monitoring system for marine, coastal, and terrestrial phenomena in the North Coast region and the Nile Delta. This system is integrated with a weather forecasting system, which will provide accurate information in a timely manner to decision-makers, which will enable them to take the necessary preventive measures to protect the Egyptian coasts and vital infrastructure from the risks of rising sea levels.
