Enhancing Adaptation: Launch of Phase 4 of the "Climate Ambassadors" Program and Honoring Phase 3 Ambassadors in the Presence of the Chairman of the Coastal Protection Authority(SPA)
In a new step to strengthen the pillars of the Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) plan, the management of the project "Enhancing Climate Change Adaptation in the North Coast and Nile Delta in Egypt" announced that the "Climate Ambassadors" program has reached 160 members. This comes with the launch of the fourth phase of the intensive training program, which focuses on building self-capacity and leadership skills for professionals working in institutions involved in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of projects in Egypt’s Mediterranean coastal region.
The launch of Phase 4 featured a two-day interactive workshop titled "The 8 Habits of Highly Effective People," presented by Dr. Yousri El-Koumi, the project’s Strategic Planning and Governance Expert. The workshop focused on empowering ambassadors with tools for professional and personal success, centered around the following themes: Being proactive, beginning with the end in mind, prioritizing, a win-win mindset, effective communication, synergy, continuous renewal (sharpening the saw), and finding one’s voice and inspiring others to find theirs.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Eng. Mohamed Hassan Ghattas, Chairman of the Egyptian Public Authority for Shore Protection (EPASP), and Dr. Mohamed Ahmed, the Project Manager, honored the Phase 3 ambassadors in recognition of their outstanding efforts. Eng. Ghattas praised the role of youth and technical cadres in transforming climate change adaptation plans into a tangible reality that protects the Nile Delta and Egyptian shores.
This phase was marked by the influx of "new blood" into the program from the Ministries of Education, Health, and Local Development, as well as the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater. They join a distinguished group of representatives from Mediterranean coastal governorates, the Ministries of Irrigation, Agriculture, Electricity, Transport, and Housing, the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), and the Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC). The program also sees active participation from experts at major research centers, including the National Water Research Center (NWRC), the Agricultural Research Center (ARC), and the Housing and Building Research Center (HBRC).
Project management emphasized that the "Climate Ambassadors" program is not merely technical training; it is an investment in "Human Capital." This ensures the availability of a qualified workforce capable of leading sustainable development and adapting to rapid climate changes in coastal areas through the Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) plan.
