Climate Ambassadors Training Program in Damietta Focuses on Conflict Resolution Skills and Communication Mechanisms
Damietta, February 4, 2025 – As part of ongoing efforts to enhance adaptation to climate change in the Nile Delta and North Coast region, the third phase of the Climate Ambassadors Training Program continues its activities in the New Damietta Governorate.
The training program included a field visit for the Climate Ambassadors, starting with the protection works implemented in Damietta Governorate by the project, followed by a visit to the experimental coordination site for protection. The visit aimed to enhance the mental vision of the Climate Ambassadors regarding the project's activities on the ground and to learn about the effectiveness of natural protection facilities used to protect citizens and infrastructure from the risk of sea water inundation.
On the sidelines of the visit, the Climate Ambassadors met with a delegation of water experts from the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the two sides exchanged experiences and explored natural protection technologies used to combat the effects of climate change. The meeting witnessed discussions and dialogues about the nature of the facilities, their lifespan, and the materials used in their construction.
The day's activities continued with a workshop that addressed "conflict resolution skills" and the importance of quality communication channels, with Dr. Yosry El-Koumi, the project's strategic planning expert. The workshop covered the analysis of the causes of conflict, types of conflicts, how to find solutions, and predicting the locations of conflict and working to avoid its occurrence.
It is worth noting that the Climate Ambassadors program is implemented within the capacity-building program for the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Plan, the second component of the Enhancing Adaptation to Climate Change project in the Nile River Delta and the North Coast.
