Who We Are:
Egypt faces significant challenges due to accelerating climate change, with the Nile River Delta and the northern coast being the most vulnerable areas. In this context, the Egyptian government has launched the "Enhancing Climate Change Adaptation in the Nile Delta and North Coast" project, which aims to protect 69 kilometers of coastline in five vital governorates—Kafr El-Sheikh, Beheira, Port Said, Dakahlia, and New Damietta—using nature-based solutions, from the risks of sea-level rise.
Furthermore, the project works closely with relevant authorities to develop a comprehensive strategic plan for the integrated management of coastal areas along 1,200 kilometers of the Mediterranean coast. This plan aims to identify the most vulnerable areas and assess the potential impacts of sea level rise on groundwater and coastal sedimentation, according to future scenarios extending to the year 2100.
This project reflects the Egyptian government's serious commitment to addressing climate change challenges, its keenness to protect its coastlines and natural resources, and its dedication to ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
