seeking to integrate the outputs of ICZM plan into government strategies
In a significant step towards implementing the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Plan (ICZM Plan), a key component of the# eccadp Project, a project team met with representatives from the Cabinet of Ministers. The meeting focused on presenting the project's mathematical models for waves, sediments, groundwater, seawater inundation, land use, and digital terrain models (DTM). The primary objective of this engagement was to effectively integrate the ICZM Plan's outputs into the work of relevant ministries and stakeholders. This integration will ensure that the plan's valuable insights are utilized to inform and support future development plans for Egypt's coastal regions. The project team's presentation highlighted the importance of incorporating scientific data and modeling into coastal management strategies. By understanding the complex interactions between physical, environmental, and socioeconomic factors, decision-makers can develop more effective and sustainable approaches to coastal development. The ICZM Plan, developed under the Enhancing Climate Change Adaptation Project, provides a comprehensive framework for managing Egypt's coastal resources in a way that balances environmental protection, economic growth, and social well-being. The plan's integration into government strategies will be instrumental in ensuring the long-term resilience and sustainability of Egypt's coastal communities. Within the framework of activating the activities of the integrated management plan for coastal areas (ICZM), the second component of the #eccadp project, the project team met with representatives of the Cabinet to present the mathematical models for waves, sediments, groundwater, seawater flooding, land use map, DTM, with the aim of integrating the outputs of the integrated management plan for coastal areas into the work of the relevant ministries and stakeholders and benefiting from them in supporting future development plans for the country in coastal areas.
